Thanks for stopping long enough to read this bio! You’re pretty cool that way.
I was born in St. Paul and raised in Stillwater. I am a self-taught artist and began painting in my teens. In my late 20’s, I discovered vodka and the painting stopped. Then in 2008, I went to treatment, got sober, got therapy, and my creativity came back with a vengeance.
My paintings can be described as abstract non-figurative acrylic that are both organic and geometric. I use both traditional and high flow acrylics in a various mediums to create organic pours. The results are abstract images that are reminiscent of nature (rock, fire, sea, and sky).
Contrasting the organic and flowing elements, I incorporate sharp edges and bold colors. The pours vs the graphic elements help me appease my desire for perfection while forcing myself to “let go” and let the paint, well, be paint.
Plus, I just think they look super cool.
Take care and thanks for looking.
